Peggy Woods
The
appreciation and the creation of art has always been
an integral part of Peggy’s life from her earliest
childhood days. Although professionally she became a
registered nurse, she has experimented and created art
throughout the years using many different mediums. She
tries to capture a sense of the beauty surrounding us
in our daily lives whether in people, animals, places
or things.
Of recent interest to Peggy is the creation of Original
Linoleum Cut Art Prints also known as linocuts. The
majority of her originals are printed at the Museum
of Printing History in Houston, Texas. After drawing
and carving the image onto the block of linoleum, each
piece is individually hand inked and pressed thereby
accounting for variations from print to print.
It is especially gratifying for her when she can capture
that special family farmhouse, animal or building for
clients who want custom work created. The blocks that
become the final "tool" of the printmaking
process are sculptural things of beauty in themselves.
