Kelley Devine
Kelley Devine received her BA in Art with an emphasis in sculpture at Southeastern Louisiana University while
co-owning an industrial coatings company and having her first child. After graduation she moved back to Houston to have her second child
and co-found what would become a multiple city distribution lifestyle magazine based in Houston. After selling the publication, she
co-founded a bottled water company and then moved on to work for Houston Arts Alliance managing special projects on a contract basis.
Concurrently, she has produced a prolific amount of work while balancing the demands of each role.
She is interested in the traditional assumptions and media personification associated with roles people assume
throughout their lives and how to communicate objections and acceptances of society and self. Kelley also strives to incorporate the
concept of how self-perception and internalization differs from the perceptions and assumptions of others, by combining materials,
applications or images that are visually and psychologically contrary to one another.
She actively shows work in the Houston metropolitan area aiming to have two to four groups or solo exhibitions a month. She is an
original and active member the Sketchy Neighbors artist group and a member John Palmer's Escapists mentorship program. Recent highlights
include the Red Bull Art of Can 2008, the Red Dot Art Fair with John Palmer 2009, and Additional Support with Hagit Barki and
Jessica Jacobin for Spacetaker's inaugural gallery opening.
