Caryn Dietrich Mims: jewelry artist. Hailing from the Northeast, Caryn ventured to Texas to pursue an education in architecture and arts at Rice University. Now a practicing architect in Houston, jewelry-making is her avenue to extend the design expertise and creativity that is part of her daily practice into works of a more personal and intimate nature.

Much as in the design of buildings, in each piece Caryn pursues balance and harmony through thoughtful application of material, color, texture, proportion and transparency. Along with these concepts, she imbues her designs with inspiration derived from the jeweler’s palette – carefully selected materials, crafted into unique and flattering compositions. For Caryn, the creation of works that accentuate and complement the natural beauty of each individual reinforces her passion for this art.
